Last night was so much fun! When I arrived at youth group, there were a couple tables set up in a row up front. On the left were three small upside-down baskets, and on the right were three big upside-down tubs. They were for the game, of course. Tommy, our youth group leader, asked for volunteers. Tommy always thinks of good games, so I volunteered. After much pondering, Tommy chose two kids named Adam and Annie, as well as me. We were taken to a separate room.
A few minutes later Tommy came in and explained the game to us: we were to go in separately and pick up the buckets individually. We had to name what was under them as fast as we could and move on to the next one. Whoever did it fastest won. (the small baskets were just for practice.) Adam went in first. Annie and I tried to figure out what the game was REALLY about, because this didn't seem Tommy-ish enough. ;) In a few minutes Tommy came back and Annie went. Five minutes later, Tommy opened the door to the room breathlessly, sweating, and carrying a pie of whipped cream. Ah. This was Tommy-ish.
Tommy told me that a boy named Hunter was hiding under the middle bucket waiting to scare me. Boy was he in for a surprise! When I picked up the bucket and he tried to scare me, I was supposed to shove the pie in his face. He didn't know this, of course, but nobody else in the room did either. Oh yes. Very Tommy-ish indeed.
Let me give you some background: Hunter comes to the church everyday after school to help Tommy out. Today Tommy told him about how he was going to freak one of us out during the game. Hunter was so excited! But he couldn't tell ANYBODY. So Hunter was just thinking he was the stuff.
So we walk in to the room. Hunter's hiding under the table, and Tommy's carrying this pie. Everybody starts cracking up! But Hunter had no idea. Tommy explains the game, to me very loudly, and I practice on the baskets. Then Tommy hands me the pie and says "ready, set, go!" Tommy opens the first bucket, "Basketball!" Then he opens the second bucket, and Hunter yells, "Rawr!" and I pied his face. Man, you should have seen the room. Everyone went crazy! Tommy, who had been super excited about this the whole day, jumps in the air and shouts "YES!" HAHA! Oh it was so great. (and Hunter took it really well too :D)
I’ll post about the rest of last night tomorrow. :)
