Umm...

These sentences were written as examples in my Spanish textbook:

?Es delgada tu mama? No, no es delgada; es gorda.

Translation: Is your mother skinny? No, she is not skinny, she is fat.

you know in Spanish lands, it's good to be gordo, no? cause you have plenty of money for food is what we were taught. There were several people we knew who had nicknames of delgada (a she) and gordo or gorda-- both. I learned to take it as a compliment if someone said I was looking fatter. no I didn't. But I was supposed to.
